SLINGSHOT SHOWDOWN

Calling all Slingshot owners to join us each evening at Pier 21 in Galveston TX (Next to the Harbor House Hotel) for some Slingshot Showdown Action! Live DJ, On-Site Bar, Competitions, and More! All Slingshot owners must register at the registration desk to get access to park on the Pier during the rally. See more information below for rules and registration information for this FREE event! Each night we will be giving out several unique awards, so don’t miss one minute of the action!

Exhaust Competition Rules

Thursday October 31st – 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Registration from 5pm – 7pm – FREE COMPETITION REGISTRATION THIS YEAR! Limited spaces available, please register early! On-site Registration Only!
Winner Take All – First Place Award Only – $100 Cash courtesy of House of Sound, and a Custom Toolbox courtesy of the Lone Star Rally
Contestants will be asked to line up. Each contestant will pull up to the judging area and will be asked to rev their engine 3-5 times (no more than 15 seconds please). After all contestants have had one turn, judges will ask three finalists to return and go again. Judging will be based on the following criteria, from the side of the vehicle:
• Overall volume
• Depth of sound
• Consistency of sound
After the finalists rev their engines for a second time, judges will announce the winner.

Lightweight Class – To compete in the Lightweight Class:
• Must have 9 total speakers or less
• Separate tweeters are counted as a speaker
• All connected / installed speakers will be counted, if a speaker is not working or not turned on, it must be removed from your Slingshot if you don’t want it to count
• Can only have a maximum of one subwoofer, and it must be 10” or under
• All others must compete in Heavyweight Class
Competitors will be matched up by the judges and compete side by side for a single elimination matchup. Scoring will be based on 7 different categories, with the winner of the category getting 10 points, and the loser of that category getting 9 points or less. (Similar to how rounds are scored in boxing.) Person with the highest point total moves on. Each competitor can play their song of choice between 45 seconds to 1 minute 15 seconds. You must stop your song when the MC tells you to. If your song “messes up” and stops in the middle, you may be allowed to restart, but one point will be deducted from your total score. If you have an excessive delay in starting your music when it is your turn, you may get a point deducted. If the matchup is close, the judges may ask you to play your song again, or ask you both to play the same song.

SCORING CATEGORIES –

• Bass Sound – Depth, Resonance
• Loudness from the Front – 10 feet away
• Loudness from the Side – 10 feet away
• Cleanliness of Install – No wires showing, speakers fit in boxes well, does not look out of place
• Style and Finish – Speaker lighting, box design, materials used, etc.
• Overall Balance of Sound – Lows, Mids and Highs all relatively equal
• Overall Clarity – No Chopping, No Distortion, etc.

Lighting Competition Rules

Saturday Nov 2nd – 7:30 – 8:30 PM
Registration from 6pm – 7:30 PM – FREE COMPETITION REGISTRATION THIS YEAR! Limited spaces available, please register early! On-site Registration Only!

All light competition contestants may be asked to park together or park in a central area for judging. Judges or MC will announce when to turn on your lights.
Judges will go around and grade each vehicle. Each vehicle will be scored in based on the following criteria:
• All lights functioning correctly, cleanliness of install
• Uniqueness / originality of lighting design
• Brightness of lights
• Color combinations / variety / patterns
• Wow / head-turning factor
Several finalists may be asked to line up, and the winner will be announced at the end of the competition. Non-winners may be asked to turn off their lights.
